This portrait, painted from life, captures the contrast between physical activity and mental stillness. The subject is focused on the repetitive task of knitting, yet her expression suggests she is deep in thought. By using soft watercolor washes and emphasizing the movement of the hands, the piece highlights how manual work can often become a form of meditation.
